PAPUA New Guinea swimming trio Georgia Leigh-Vele, Josh Tarere and debutant Thomas Chen are attending the Aquatics World Championship in Doha, Qatar and are expected to swim some good times.
Federation president Elizabeth Wells said Chen had already competed in his first meet in the men’s 100m breaststroke while Tarere competed in the 100m freestyle yesterday.
Vele on the other hand will compete in the women’s 100m freestyle today.
“Thomas is the only one to swim, this was his first time to swim at an Aquatic World Championship where he contested in his favorite event, the 100m breaststroke on Sunday and clocked a finished time of 1:08.39 which was a personal best by almost two seconds,” Wells said.
“The time recorded moves Thomas into the BSP National Aquatic Excellence Gold Squad.”
