PNGEC needs to get it right

Letters

THE Electoral Commission (PNGEC), being the State entity responsible for electoral matters, is responsible for the chaos around the country.
Eligible voters’ names missing from the rolls was the primary and fundamental issue igniting unnecessary violence.
How can you (PNGEC) get this wrong when you had five years to prepare?
It’s unreasonable!
Start making the right decisions and plan better after this failure of an election.
One basic approach is to simply engage ward councillors and their ward recorders to help you carry out electoral roll updates.
This bottom-up approach is economical and will save you time, resources, money and I believe it will bring quality results as ward recorders know their people better than anyone else.
Do not engage officials and teams who are not familiar to the local environment.
Electoral Commission, you have been doing this for a long time and we still experiencing problems with electoral rolls.
Why not you deviate from the old and start looking at a different perspective by utilising simple ward recorders whom you will not waste money on logistics expenses, renting expensive accommodation, buying fancy meals etc?
It’s common sense!
