THE Papua New Guinea Football Association, like any other national sporting federation, will re-apply to the Office of the National Pandemic Response Controller to seek approval for its competitions and programmes.
Association competitions director Roosje Suwae said in a statement yesterday that the sport’s national governing body was looking to kick off the Women National Soccer League in March, but it was subject to approval.
Suwae said the federation was calling on all players and officials to be vaccinated before they could take part in any association-sanctioned competition.
“We understand vaccination is not compulsory,” the competitions director said. She said the association had chosen the approach for players, officials and others involved in sanctioned competitions or activities to ensure that there was no disruptions.
“It is for our protection and for the protection of those we come in contact with during the course of the competitions,” she said.
Suwae said her department wanted to ensure everything was in order prior to kicking off the league in March.
