THE Papua New Guinea Olympic Committee (PNGOC) has postponed all its Team PNG fundraising activities due to the global coronavirus pandemic.
Every year, PNGOC works hard to raise funds for Team PNG to attend international games such as the Olympics, which have now been deferred to next year.
PNGOC secretary-general Auvita Rapilla said the support of their sponsors, partners and member national federations was important.
PNGOC is planning to stage it events at a later time when things return to normal.
“We encourage all our members and stakeholders to stay informed about the COVID-19 situation by visiting websites of the PNGOC, the World Health Organisation and the International Olympic Committee,” she said in a statement.
“She encouraged everyone to observe the precautionary measures put in place to keep themselves and their families safe from potential infection by the virus.
