PNGSDP releasing second lot of project fees to schools

SCHOOLS in Western will soon receive their second project fees, thanks to PNG Sustainable Development Programme Ltd (PNGSDP).
According to PNGSDP, the first payments were done in July but some schools missed out due to invalid bank accounts.
These schools managed to provide valid account details and would be receiving both their first and second payments.
Kwiroknai Primary School head teacher Jonathan Kolda said the funding was much needed, especially when staff housing was a problem.
“With this funding, we will now be able to provide housing and other necessities for our staff,” he said.
Rumginae Primary School is one the recipients of the funding and would focus on building houses and installing water tanks for its staff.
Head teacher Tanato Mulake said the school would be investing in new text books.
“Our school really needs new text books,” she said.
“We are excited and cannot wait to start work on this project.”
Security has been a concern for Matkomnai Primary School, board chairman Raymond Mathew said.
“With this support, we are now able to take precautionary measures to safeguard our school, he said. Mathew said they would build a fence arround their school.
PNGSDP’s spending initiatives on education are focused on scholarship programmes, infrastructure, school fees and modern technology for schools in remote areas.
They are also developing a Flexible Open and Distance Education (Fode) campus in Balimo.
