DEFENCE Minister Dr Fabian Pok says North Waghi in Jiwaka is beginning to transform people’s lives through projects he had initiated in the electorate.
Pok was in Kakinzep 1 and Molka 1 council wards last Friday and Saturday to deliver 16,000 roofing iron sheets under the shelter programme  “Operesen Rausim Kunai,”.
He said people in the area had been missing out on the programme and the district was in the dark for 10 years (2002-2012) when he was not in Parliament.
“We are fortunate to have national and international connections, friends who are there to help us when we call for help,” Pok said.
“We must work together to make our district an envy of others. We have just started with some of the major impact projects.
“But we have a lot of work to do. To make it happen, we must work together under one vision.
“We need political stability.”
Pok said North Waghi was beginning to see light at the end of the tunnel with projects like “Laitim North Waghi,” (rural electrification project) that  needed full implementation.
He said that Banz would be developed into a model town with a K1 million water supply and sewerage system undergoing feasibility studies.
Some of the projects already implemented are the Banz police station upgrading, paying of school fees for tertiary students from the electorate every year and the establishment of the Highlands region Defence Force Engineering Battalion at Kerowil Singirok Barracks.
