CORRECTIONAL Services acting Commissioner Stephen Pokanis’ three-month term has been extended by another three months to allow the Government time to make a permanent appointment. Pokanis will remain in office until March 24.
“I am starting on the fourth month now overseeing the office and hopefully the government appoints the permanent commissioner (by then),” he said.
Pokanis has a 30-years experience as a prisons administrator.
He said in his current acting term, 70 per cent of activities in administration had been completed with the support of the executive management. Two outstanding activities were the strategic plan and annual activity plan for 2019. “The board will meet this month and we are currently working on the minor organisational structure, looking at filling up the space on manpower.”
