POLICE and soldiers are patrolling the Tari-Mendi section of the Okuk highway to ensure public safety.
Hela provincial police commander Chief Superintendent Martin Lakari said the situation in Tari town was still tense but under control.
He said members of the security forces were patrolling the road to stop criminal activities such as armed hold-ups.
Lakari said after last Friday’s killings of a student and four men at a funeral at Ake village, outside Tari town, things had quietened down.
He said police would deal with the Lenapini clansmen who opened fire indiscriminately at Tapi’s clansmen attending a funeral.
“This terrorist attack will be properly investigated and those responsible from the Lenapini clan will face the full force of the law,” he said.
Lakari urged people to respect the law and allow peace and harmony to prevail in the district.
