A 24-YEAR-OLD man was found dead by his relatives after he went out drinking homebrew with his friends in Midiba, Madang, on Saturday.
Madang police commander Supt Mazuc Rubiang said Jeffery Kabo, from Bogia’s Ariangon village, was drinking with three others when three suspects assaulted him with an iron rod between 4pm and 5pm.
“Kabo was found dead in a bush and a suspect was arrested at the scene while two others fled,” he said.
Supt Rubiang said police arrived at the crime scene swiftly following a phone call and advised relatives to send Kabo’s body to the hospital; while police launched a manhunt for the killers.
He said police raided the house of the key murder suspect who wielded a bush knife and tried to attack the policemen.
“He was, however, over-powered and arrested,” he said, adding that the other two suspects were on the run.
