St John reviewing GPS system

ST JOHN Ambulance chief executive officer Matt Cannon says they are reviewing the global positioning system (GPS) information of the ambulance vehicle that crashed in Lae.
The ambulance crashed at the Eriku bus-stop over the weekend.
Lae police said the driver was allegedly drunk.
The accident brought to light the mismanagement of Morobe’s only St John Ambulance vehicle, while under the care of the Morobe health authority (PHA).
The National attempted to contact PHA chief executive officer Dr Kipas Binga for comments but was unsuccessful.
Cannon said St John was expected to commence its medevac service in Lae next week, with a second ambulance arriving in May or June.
He said the ambulance service needed both vehicles to operate adequately.
Cannon told The National that their services in Lae would now be delayed indefinitely.
He said any future development of the ambulance service in the Morobe capital would be up to PHA once the investigation into the accident was completed.
The National reached out to Lae Met Supt Chris Kunyanban but he was currently out of the province and could not provide further details on the case.
