POLICE in East Sepik have nabbed two suspects allegedly involved in robbing passengers of a PMV at Nuku, West Sepik, last week.
Police said the passengers were travelling into Maprik, East Sepik from Nuku when armed men held them up at Wamarau. Two persons died right after the incident while the third was badly injured.
Police commander Supt Albert Beli said the two male suspects aged between 20 and 25 years old were trying to travel to Wewak when they were arrested and locked up at the Maprik police station.
He said the injured suspect had passed on.
West Sepik Governor Tony Wouwou condemned the attack on people from his province, most of whom were agriculture farmers.
Wouwou called on all leaders from both Sepik provinces to work together to address armed holdups or robberies along the road network.
He wanted police patrols established on the highway.
Supt Beli said police from both Sepik provinces were working together.
He said they were working to make more arrests of suspects.
