MONEY was thrown into the crowd as a rascal tried to escape from the clutches of security guards and police officers in Koki, Port Moresby after the holdup of a mini supermarket, K-Mart, on Sunday.
National Capital District Met Supt Perou N’dranou said the robbery saw suspects pretending to be customers walking into the shop.
He said the suspects were pointing guns at the security guards.
N’dranou said the first two suspects were nabbed by security guards.
“The first two guards were captured by the guards and police,” N’dranou said.
“The first suspect, who was armed with a factory-made firearm, was tackled by one of the guards.
“He was put down by the guards and was held down.
“The other suspect tried to blend into the crowd.
“But he was identified and police picked him up,” N’dranou said.
“Police assisted the security guards to apprehend the third suspect.
“This third suspect is said to have thrown money to the crowd.
“He threw the money and tried to jump over the fence.”
“All three suspects are detained at Boroko.
“They are all waiting to be charged.”
When asked on how much was taken, N’dranou said the amount was yet to be disclosed.
“As it is, we do not know how much was recovered and what was taken from the store,” he said.
