EASTERN Highlands Police Commander Supt David Seine Jr has asked the Eastern Highlands health authority (EHPHA) to produce a complete plan to addressing Covid-19 in the province.
Seine said this at a meeting in Goroka yesterday in the presence of stakeholders and politicians from the province.
EHPHA chief executive officer Dr Joseph Apa said the plan was not final and it would be improved.
It was also highlighted at the meeting that the health authority needed thermal guns to monitor its two borders, the airport and those coming in for random checks.
Meanwhile, health workers from the six districts, on Friday, called for the thermal guns to be used at Daulo and Kassam Pass road checkpoints and the airport for early detection and quick response.
Apa said the screening and waiting area for suspected Covid-19 cases was completed over the weekend: The 40-bed isolation wing was awaiting paint work before beds could be installed and the critical care unit would soon to be completed.
