POLICE have blamed road accidents in the country on motorists’ ignorance of traffic laws.
Madang police commander acting Supt Mazuc Rubiang said a lot of accidents resulted from the overloading of vehicles.
He said vehicles were either overloaded with people or goods.
Rubiang said this had to be addressed through road safety awareness which police had been doing.
He said roads in Madang were filled with potholes and drivers had to be cautious.
Rubiang urged both motorists and commuters to abide by the traffic regulations to avoid road accidents.
