DEPARTMENT of Personnel Management secretary Taies Sansan has urged public servants in Madang to return to work immediately as failure to do so would result in disciplinary action against them.
“I reminded the Madang public servants that they are paid by the Government and what they did was improper,” she said.
“As public servants, they should remain neutral at all times.”
Sansan addressed the Madang public servants last Friday during a meeting they had with Madang public employees association branch president John Bivi.
Taies used the meeting with Bivi to address the Madang public servants via phone and explained to them the appointment process of provincial administrators.
She confirmed that the position was advertised and that the proper processes were followed through to the National Executive Council (NEC) – the appointing authority that made the appointment.
The secretary said the issue of appointment of the provincial administrator for Madang was a decision made by NEC based on a resolution and recommendation by the provincial executive council.
