Police brutality

Letters

NEWS about police brutality, wrongful actions and abuse of power has been well published in the daily newspapers.
The police hierarchy, the general public and every citizen of this nation are fed up.
Development grants of millions are spent on court orders granted by the courts to the victims as compensation payment for loss of business, damages, interest, etc.
Police are doing all they can to minimise these hypocritical happenings in upholding law and order as the Apec meeting draws near.
The 37 new graduates then turned the tables with their so-called ritual as reported.
Their actions are uncalled for in a disciplined organisation like the police, Correctional Services and, of course, the Defence Force.
The questions now are: What type of training did they receive?
Who taught them this?
Is this a custom of the college?
How on earth will that happen in a disciplined college?
Their actions brought shame and disrepute to the department.
My call is to arrest all of them, calculate how much the Government spent on each of them during training so that they can reimburse them. Charge them accordingly.
And give them marching orders so that they can look for greener pastures elsewhere.
That can be a lesson to teach those who are thinking of becoming a police officer.
I am in support of the college commandant’s plan to have the minimum academic entry level for recruits raised
