A wIFE who had evaded paying compensation for the attempted murder of a woman in Enga, in 2013 and fled to Port Moresby, appeared before the Waigani committal court last Thursday.
Kurungi Arnold Tala, 28, from Mulitaka village in the Laiagam district of Enga allegedly attempted to kill a Sussi Nalepe in Paiam town at Porgera on August 12, 2013.
Magistrate Cosmos Bidar said he would need to study the facts of the incident and consider affidavits from all parties involved.
Bidar said this following a statement  from Tala’s lawyer that whatever compensation paid by Tala’s husband (Arnold Kulina) covered Tala as well because the matter between the two women was about Kulina.
It was alleged that on August 12, 2013, Tala was with Kulina when Nalepe, also a girlfriend of his, asked Kulina to give her bus fare to travel to her village.
Tala allegedly swung a kitchen knife three times at Nalepe wounding her on her chest, breast and thighs.
Nalepe was taken to Paiam Hospital for treatment.
On September 30, 2013, Tala was arrested and charged for attempted murder and appeared before Pogera district court.
