POLICE in East New Britain are looking for suspects involved in breaking into a trade store at Sulka village in the Bitapaka area of Kokopo district on Monday.
According to acting ENB police commander Snr Insp Gabriel Bandy, the burglars broke into the store and stole more than K1,000 and store goods worth K3,000.
The matter was reported to the police on the same day and the identity of one of the suspects was known to the police.
“Sulka is in a remote part of the Bitapaka area and the incident was unexpected. I am calling on the suspects to surrender to police because your identities are known to the police so it is better for you to surrender so the police won’t have to come looking for you,” Bandy said.
He urged the youth to respect people owning small businesses like trade stores because they provided a service to the local community by providing goods.
Bandy called on people in Bitapaka to provide the police with information that would help them arrest the suspects.
