Police nab escapee

POLICE have recaptured a notorious escapee in Rabaul, East New Britain, with the help of the public.
The suspect, Jason Aichim, known as Nick Tati or Nick John, was nabbed by the people at Malaguna No1 in Rabaul.
He had been earlier arrested by police in Rabaul for allegedly causing grievous bodily harm and rape.
Provincial police commander Supt Anthony Wagambie said Aichim was known in Rabaul town. Wagambie said the suspect was arrested by police in Rabaul late last year but escaped with eight others early last month from the Kokopo cells after using a hacksaw that was smuggled into the cells.
“I have nothing but praise for the public in Rabaul who apprehended the suspect,” Wagambie said. “This particular person is a threat to the community in Rabaul town area.”
