THE Government House saw a handover of two Police Aide Camp or ADC to the head of state yesterday.
The current ADC as referred to is more than a close-protection officer for the head of state, which is the governor-general.
The ADC consists of a member of the military and a member of the constabulary.
During the ceremony, in the presence of Governor-General Sir Bob Dadae, witnessed by staff of the Government House, out-going ADC Insp Felix Nebanat handed over the position to incumbent sub-Insp George Gim in a traditional disciplinary ceremony.
Nemanat had completed his two full terms as ADC while Gim, from Rempi in Madang, takes over from him and becomes the police ADC.
Speaking during the ceremony Sir Bob thanked Nebanat for serving the Government House and him for the last two years.
“I express my heartfelt gratitude as you have done exceptionally well,” he said. “Two other ADC did not complete their duties but Inspector (Nebanat), you have truly served the nation diligently.
“I’m proud of you.
“You have served the head of state, which is not an easy task.
“You have been privileged also to serve the head of state as you are one among the many officers to serve the head of state.
“Thank you once again.
“ You have learnt a lot as ADC and that experience will make you a great officer.”
Nebanat has been promoted to Commander Southern Mobile Group, a position which was vacant.
He was previously second in command at McGregor.
The governor-general also thanked and welcomed Gim, who was the former staff officer at Directorate of Special Service Division at McGregor, as the new ADC.
He will serve for two years.
