Police officers lack discipline

Letters, Normal

I WOULD like to say that most police officers in PNG do not practise the code of conduct that they learn at the Bomana college.
I would like to know what they are learning at the police college.
One would really wonder why the new recruits start swearing, kicking and punching innocent civilians in public the moment they graduate.
Were they taught bad language and karate during the six months of training?
The challenge is the police bosses must get their officers to toe the line and serve the people.
I believe there are many cases being taken against the police and state due to the actions of some of these ill-trained police officers.
It is not surprising to read the UN article on human rights abuse in PNG by our police officers.
I wonder how the police bosses feel when they read such dismal reports.
I call on the police commissioner to come down hard on those who abuse innocent people and save the state from making compensations to victims.
