Police officers undergo investigative training

SIXTEEN police officers in East New Britain undertook an intensive investigative workshop last week in Kokopo facilitated by the Australian Federal Police (AFP).
AFP Inspector Mark Ingram said at the closing of the workshop last Friday that it was important for the officers to work as a team especially when conducting investigations.
He said the workshop was challenging for the participants but it provided them “the space and time to master investigative skills”.
He said the officers learnt communication skills and how to reason things before making decisions.
“There is a lot going on here in East New Britain. It would require you to work as a team. Many heads are better than one,” he said.
“Take the skills that you have learnt, work with each other and you will convict a lot more suspects.”
Acting provincial police commander Senior Inspector Joseph Tabali was impressed with the officers for their keenness to learn new things during the workshop.
He urged them to share what they had learnt with their colleagues and to implement what they had learnt.
“You have learnt a lot. I am urging you all to perform.”
