MEMBERS of the Morobe rural police patrol unit are ready to deploy to Tewai-Siassi district to investigate and arrest suspects involved in killings and other crimes, says police commander Supt Alex N’Drasel.
N’Drasel said the district over the last two months had experienced killings and the burning down of houses as well as the destructing properties.
N’Drasel convened a meeting with local MP Dr Kobby Bomario, the district administrator and some village leaders at his office in Lae last Friday to plot a way forward to have police presence in the district. But he said police could not do the exercise independently as logistics were an issue and they would need the district’s help.
N’Drasel said with the district’s assistance, five mobile squad 15 members were flown in to Wasu yesterday.
