POLICE in Madang have responded to at least three robberies over the past four days, provincial police commander Supt Mazuc Rubiang says.
They mainly involved PMV buses travelling along the north and south coast roads. He said two robberies were reported yesterday, one at Matugar (Sumkar) and the other at Balasigo in the south coast area.
Over the weekend, police received reports of another robbery in town where thugs walked away with K50,000 in cash, Supt Rubiang said.
PMV buses were also held up by armed suspects last weekend.
Supt Rubiang said: “Our innocent citizens are being terrorised by these criminals. People who reside near the criminals know about them but are not reporting that to the police.
“Police officers should be assisted by the local leaders or parents of criminals so this will stop such things from happening.”
