A 7kg bag of marijuana with an estimated street value of K4000 was confiscated from a passenger in a taxi along Koura Road in Port Moresby on Monday.
Port Moresby police station commander Chief Inspector Max Dogme said the police unit that followed the taxi suspected that there was something wrong with the customer and driver.
They held up the taxi at Koura Freeway heading to Hanuabada market.
Dogme said the suspect took the bag and walked from Morobe to Gulf and then came down the highway to sell it in Port Moresby. “There are still many of them at large and we will find who is keeping them,” he said.
The suspect was arrested and charged with possession of dangerous drug and kept in custody.
Police said the suspect in his mid-30s was believed to be from Gulf.
