PLACES like Menyamya, Wantoat (Markham), Kabwum, Tewae-Siassi and Garaina (Bulolo) in Morobe with law and order problems will be covered by police on helicopter, provincial police commander Supt Alex N’Drasal says.
He said the Morobe administration had allocated some money for it and it would be used for charter and fuel for boats to cater for coastal places like the Morobe Patrol Post.
N’Drasal said police boats were supposed to be there in time for the operation but were not available.
“Those districts which can be reached by road can be maintained from time to time,” he said.
“Water police will be on standby and they’ll be monitoring the coastline of the province.
“We have a banana boat with two 80-horse powers that will be monitoring the coastline.”
N’Drasal said if the water police could not get to a location in time in cases like sea piracy, the helicopter would be hired and used to cater for that.
He said their operation in this festive period would be extended to the border of Northern and Madang.
N’Drasal said the Wafi-Golpu mine site would also be included during their festive operations and told the Mumeng and Bulolo police to be in-charge of that.
“There is always fights among landowners within the perimeter of the mine.
“Stealing has been going on with properties of the company taken out so police have to go there from time to time to monitor.
