SOUTHERN Highlands police commander Chief Supt Martin Lakari wants the relatives of a 50-year-old man killed on Sept 27 with some involvement from the police and soldiers not to take the law into their own hands.
He said the prime suspect was a PNG Defence Force soldier from Enga.
Chief Supt Lakari said police from Enga and PNGDF personnel involved were known and would be brought to justice.
Chief Supt Lakari said while the alleged killers had been identified, the people of Nipa must not threaten or take on any Engan living in Southern Highlands.
He said the killing was done by one person and not everyone was involved.
“Any Enga living in Southern Highlands must move around freely and should not be held responsible for someone else’s stupidity,”Chief Supt Lakari said.
“We will get the killer and those who have been involved and I’m calling the deceased’s relatives not to take the law into their own hands.”
Chief Supt Lakari said the killing was condemned in the strongest term as the victim was chopped to death.
