AN auxiliary policeman attached to the Yangoru police station has been charged with the murder of a primary school teacher in Yangoru.
East Sepik police commander Supt Albert Beli said that on June 7, the teacher identified as Enoch Parinaka and the policeman had an argument.
Both are from Sima village in the East Yangoru local level government in East Sepik.
Police allege that the policeman used an axe to attack Parinaka who later died at the Boram Hospital.
“The situation is still tense and police are monitoring the situation in the village.
“The suspect is now behind bars and he will explain to court what he did.”
He called on people in the province to obey simple instructions given to them by police such as coming to the police station to resolve issues.
Beli assured the relatives that police would make sure that files were completed for the court.
He urged people to sit down and discuss issues among families and communities instead of resorting to fighting.
