Political appointments causing chaos

Letters

I HAVE seen MPs and their District Development Authority’s (DDA) appoint public servants to sectional heads of departments in their respective districts without going through the proper appointments procedure.
Many of these public servants are not qualified to head the section but were given the task because of their political connections.
These officers should feel ashamed and reject the posting.
Appointments should be done on merit and seer hard work and it doesn’t come in short cuts and cheatings.
An example is in Bogia where we have three district education advisers (DEA), two on acting position, one appointed by the Department of Personal Management with the blessing from Provincial Education Board and the other by the Bogia DDA.
One has since passed on while the two are going against each other’s throat over this position.
They were friends before this happened.
Even the education office in Madang is entertaining their reports, recommendations and action on matters relating to schools and teachers in the district.
This alone has made those two officers more determine to get into this one position.
One went on to get police officers to arrest his comrade for fraud only to find his papers were in order with directives of his appointment by the Department of Education and the Department of Personal Management.
This is crazy, believe me if such practices is allowed to go on, it can affect the working morale of public servants across the country.
We have crazy people in this crazy political organisation trying to manipulate the system for their own gains. I don’t blame anybody but please Mr Prime Minister, can you do away with such an organisation that is trying to manipulate and duplicate the Department of Personal Management and creating chaos in Bogia and other parts of the country as well?

Digov Nada,
Bogia District, Madang
