Political parties urged to implement policies

POLITICAL parties have been urged to stick to their policies and try their best to implement them, says National Research Institute director Dr Osborne Sanida.
“Around the world, political parties have an important role to play in addressing issues brought about by some form of change, no matter what side of the parliament they sit,” he said.
“PNG is no exception. Hence, this seminar is vital in highlighting and strengthening the role of political parties and policies to address the challenges in PNG brought about economic, social and environmental changes.”
Only 25 of the 52 registered political parties spent the past six weeks discussing their policies in a seminar as they prepare for the 2022 General Election.
Dr Sanida closed the seminar series on Tuesday.
He urged party representatives to abide by their policies and take action to implement the policies.
The seminar was organised by the NRI, Registry of Political Parties and the Australian Partnership Programme.
