THE Pomio development authority (DDA) will be tabling reports on the use of Covid-19 funds in its five local level governments (LLGs). Pomio MP Elias Kapavore said Pomio received K2 million which was disbursed to its LLGs under three programmes, one of which was to implement prevention protocols. He said the two largest LLGs of West Pomio Mamusi and Central Inland Pomio received more funding while the Sinivit, East Pomio and Melkoi received K190,000. Kapavore said the funds were distributed under three programmes which were for Covid-19 measures, agriculture and small to medium enterprises. “I have already received good reports from the LLGs with more to be presented at the next district board meeting,” he said. Kapavore said major projects in Pomio were progressing following delays by Covid-19 pandemic restrictions. Regarding a major hydro project, he said a feasibility study found that Unung River was not suitable for the facility and a new site would have to be found. He said a new site was identified at Tolo River located in West Pomio Mamusi LLG. Kapavore said a new road was being constructed to the area which would also connect to the new LLG headquarters at Mapuna ward for the new Mamusi Yana LLG, as per the provincial boundaries review committee exercise.
