POMNA to adopt constitution

THE Port Moresby Netball Association annual general meeting at the end of the month will see the adoption of an amended constitution to be passed by the affiliates.
POMNA president Linda Ligo and her deputy senior vice-president Lynette Maha including their executive term of two years will close the business with elections of new office bearers.
“We have progressed ahead with the amendments of the constitution since POMNA was established,” she said.
“Our discussions with PNG Netball Federation to be actioned by the PNG Sports Foundation on the ownership of the Bisini land which the Rita Flynn netball courts are progressing as planned.
“This is what we wanted to see become a reality for us to sustain and operate the biggest netball competition in the country,” Ligo said.
She said the association was also working to build the capacity of its technical officials with coaching and umpiring courses this weekend (March 21-22).
Ligo said the association’s executive had also worked to establish and maintain relationships with the corporate community to help sustain its competition and programmes.
Meanwhile, the POMNA pre-season ended after three weekends of trials.
Senior vice-president Maha said that junior divisions has Under-10, U13, U15, U17 and U21 while seniors are divisions 1-8.
Maha said last season they had 68 senior teams and 75 junior teams
But with a lot of interest this season, the numbers were likely to increase.
