PORT Moresby AFL has its sights set on claiming top honours at the upcoming national championships in Kimbe.
POMAFL president Douglas Lai said he was confident of a clean sweep of the championships in the men’s and women’s divisions.
“We have three teams who we will be selecting,” he said.
“One women’s side and two men’s teams.
“In the men’s division, one will be a development side which is our young players who we’re grooming to be stars of the future.
“The other will be the elite side which will be made up of senior players.
“We have good players in the National Capital District.
“I’m sure we’ll prepare well to take out the championships.”
Meanwhile, Lai says the end of the POM AFL finals scheduled for this weekend is a great way to expose young talent in the sport.
He thanked the continued support of Kina Group of Companies for AFL in Port Moresby through Esi Loan, which has been supporting POM AFL since 2014.
