Port Moresby City Rangers

Letters

I AM an avid reader of both daily newspapers and expect what newspapers report to be properly vetted and verified.
In most instances the articles are solid and based on facts. However, there are times when articles appear that do not seem to have been verified and the lack of verification brings the paper’s integrity and credibility into question.
One example is the article, ‘Hundreds put up their hands to clean city’ (The National, July 5).
This article referred to the Port Moresby City Rangers Association.
A check at IPA would have pointed out that no entity with that name is registered there.
The only registered organisation with that name is a business called Port Moresby City Rangers. Note that it is a business name with one owner and not an association as reported.
Associations and businesses are governed by different Acts and play very different functions.
