THE Port Moresby Men’s Softball Association resumed its 2020-2021 season yesterday after a three-week break during the festive season.
Association vice-president Ali Daveona told The National that the season was going smoothly with all A-Grade teams playing their matches.
He said they were looking forward to a good season compared with last year where the Covid-19 pandemic had interrupted their schedule.
“I’m just hoping that we have an uninterrupted season,” Daveona said. “We started a little bit late today (yesterday) because we had to wait for the pitch to dry after the rain.
“Otherwise, everything is going smoothly and we are hopeful that the season will be great.”
Daveona said Pawa’s B-Grade team failed to turn up for their match against Mariners.
The pre-season had a small turnout of players and spectators, with most matches forfeited.
But after yesterday’s big turnout, the association is hopeful of good things to come.
“We are still operating under the Covid-19 provisions,” Daveona said.
“We’re still pressing ahead unless major developments take place.
“We are only three rounds into the season but United Brothers are showing a lot of promise.”
Having finished as last season’s minor premiers, Brothers have a point to prove and are yet to drop points in this campaign.
