THE Port Moresby Rugby Football League season starts this weekend at the National Football Stadium Oval 2.
Competition coordinator David Silovo said the games were initially scheduled to kick off last weekend but most clubs had not met registration requirements for players and officials of the respective divisions — A grade men, Under-20s and women.
The first game of the season starts at 2pm tomorrow with the Sports Tok-sponsored side Kone Tigers taking on Butterflies followed by the game between Defence and Magani.
He said only A grade matches would start this weekend while the men’s U20 and women’s division kick off at the end of the month.
“All clubs are reminded to be punctual and be ready for their matches.
“Team sheets are to be handed in correctly filled with 30 minutes before the game time.”
Chairman Dr James Naipao urged clubs who had not met the affiliation requirements to do so for the season to start smoothly.
Naipao said before the start of the season all participating clubs needed to field a men’s A grade, U20s and women’s teams.
“As per requirements set by PNGRFL, all three divisions for each club should pay a registration fee of K50 per head.”
“All players and officials registered must have medical checks done and must also have IDs and biodata done up.”
Naipao warned players not to play in other competitions.
He said club players and officials who were part of Digicel Cup franchises or the Hunters would pay twice the registration amount of K100.
He said the referees must also be registered to start the competition.
