The Moresby South Rugby League JT Cup Super Nines starts tomorrow at the Sir William Skate Oval at Kaugere.
Tournament manager Bagelo Bugsy Solien warned all clubs to field only age-qualified players in the Under-20s games.
Solien said the purpose of the U20s was to get players in the correct age group to play the shorter format to improve their overall performance as footballers.
“We do not want to see 21 or 22-year-old guys running around in the U-20 division or we will have to remove them from the playing field,” he said.
“We have 24 teams in U20 and 12 women’s teams to battle it out for the first leg of the tournament starting tomorrow.
“The women will start the tournament tomorrow with all participating teams to play three matches each before the play-offs in the afternoon.
“All bowl, plate and cup qualifiers will be played on the same day which means the ladies will be tested with real tournament style football.” The U20 games are scheduled for Saturday with all teams playing two matches each and their last pool matches will be on Sunday morning before the bowl and cup qualifiers in the afternoon.
Solien said the finals for the women and U20s would be played on March 18 with the senior men’s finals.
