“Making it to the grand final in the Digicel Nines clearly demonstrated our capabilities and this same management is now running this team for the bigger competition,” Kee said.
“This is a signal to fans, the people of Simbu and the rest of Papua New Guinea that we the Simbu Warriors are ready to take on the challenge.”
Governor Michael Bogai Dua has made a commitment of K100,000 to the club.
This was also backed by provincial administrator Joe Kunda Naur.
The Simbu Provincial Government is also providing accommodation and a training centre for the club.
The club will be housed in the former premises of the Simbu Teachers College at Wara Simbu.
Chairman Alphonse Kee urged business houses, fans and politicians to support the provincial team.
“Let me ask our elected members to support the provincial government as we bring this team into the competition. There is more to be done to groom these players as we look forward to the 2018 challenge,” Kee said.
