THE Port Moresby Soccer Association has suspended its 2021 season indefinitely following discussions with the National Control Centre’s Niupela Pasin team.
Association president Joseph Ealedona said although they were adamant about completing the season, the executives decided that the centre’s Coronavirus measures would not be possible to implement.
“It would not be possible to comply with conditions set by the team as one of the key measures was vaccination,” he said.
“I had discussed with the executives that given the association was a family-oriented support base, the measures would be close to impossible to implement. An important factor is that we depend on the spectator gate fees.
“So with the closed-door measure, it will affect the association.
“For now, the competition is suspended indefinitely, pending new measures that the centre says will come out.
“On behalf of the executives, I apologise to all clubs and players.
“It was a difficult decision, but the importance of life is crucial.
“Football will be here forever, but a life will not be if we are irresponsible about something we can manage.
“All clubs are advised to keep fit and prepare for a possible resumption by the end of March next year.”
