Positions vacant for too long

Letters

THE number of vacancies needing permanent appointments at the Department of Commerce & Industries is interesting.
These are funded positions which have not been filled for the past five years.
Hopefully, the Department of Personal Management will assist the department in a speedy manner and complete the Recruitment and Selection successfully.
On the same token; the PNG Sports Foundation has 120 funded positions which some positions are already filled and some yet to be confirmed.
A PNGSF structure was passed in 2012; and the recruitment and selection process has been ongoing since then.
The management changed in 2013 and the recruitment and selection process was completed. Apart from the 120 funded positions only 58 positions were filled.
On Aug 15 2017; an internal advertisement was done within the organization for the 62 positions that were vacant.
Everyone lodge their application but due to the PNG Games; the internal recruitment and selection process was on hold. Four months have come and gone and we are in January 2018; the officers are still waiting to be confirmed.
The information from Human Resource Personnel is that all preliminary selections are already completed; now waiting for DPM officials to facilitate the Recruitment Process.
If this is true; can the Department of Personnel Management look into this matter? The Organization needs to move forward; and the Human Resource welfare is paramount at this stage.
