‘Positive parenting course vital for teachers’

Education

TEACHERS in elementary schools must go through positive parenting trainings because whatever a child misses out at home, is taught in the classrooms, an official says.
Coordinator for non-formal education under the Evangelical Lutheran church of Papua New Guinea (ELCPNG) education department Duaro Embi told The National on Wednesday that teachers were the ones to provide love, care and a positive atmosphere for children.
He said positive parenting for child development (P4CD), a workshop training being piloted by ELCPNG targeting parents and caregivers, including elementary school teachers would be rolled out in Morobe.
P4CD is funded by the United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund and is being facilitated by ELCPNG.
