EXPERIENCE matters and counts, as proven by PNG Power’s Demas Tovia, who stole the show to help his team win 5-4 in the do-or-die match yesterday at Bisini softball diamonds.
Tovia is synonymous with the PNG Power, formerly Elcom which has dominated the softball diamonds.
Trailing the Brown Eagles 4-0 in the first two innings, the Isikel Tovia Snr-coached side knew they had a tougher task on hand.
Brown Eagles wasted no time score one run through Martin ToAlbert, and then added three in the second inning through James Lumaris, Pedro Kulukul and Ketalk Wosely to extend the lead to 4-0.
With a strong pep talk from coach Isikel Tovia Snr, PNG Power tried every trick in the book to ensure they win the match.
PNG Power got into the scorebook through Danny Tovia and Michael Parom to trail Brown Eagles 4-2.
Both teams played strongly to restrict each other from scoring while PNG Power ensured they were in the game by scoring a run each in the fifth inning and sixth inning to win the game.
The power men scored their last three runs through Eddie Simba and Paul Tabete before putting the nail to the coffin through a brilliant sneak run by Demas Tovia to seal the match.
PNG Power will now advance to meet Yokomo in the A grade final this weekend.
In the early matches, Brown Eagles edged out PNG Power 4-3 to meet PNG Power who then won the match to play Yokomo this weekend.
