PPC: Woman recovering

National

A WOMAN accused of sorcery and tortured at the Wanikipa village in Hela last month is still recovering at Tari hospital, according to police.
Hela police commander Chief Insp Teddy Agwi said police were ready to go there but the distance to the village would take them about a week by foot which was not safe.
He said he would be discussing with the provincial administration how to get there and what to do with the suspects.
The province was otherwise, quiet, Chief Insp Agwi said.
The busiest district was Tari where people are doing ceremonies to say sorry to their tribal rivals, he said.
Chief Insp Agwi wanted people to give up their weapons and pay compensation.
He said the Tari airport had been closed due to trouble but people there were welcoming now.
Chief Insp Agwi said the law would still take its course.
