TWO local level government presidents in East Sepik have retained their seats.

Yangoru-Saussia district declared Sausso LLG president Enosh Jonduo, followed by Turubu LLG president David Kausik on Sunday.

Provincial returning officer Lukas Engime said counting for the two LLGs started on Saturday and was very peaceful.

Engime said counting for East Yangoru, Numbo, Wewak Rural, Wewak Island and Wewak Urban would begin today.

West Yangoru is expected to announce a winner this afternoon.

“Drekikir and Kawanga LLGs in the Ambunti Drekikir district will commence counting tomorrow while Ambunti and Tunap LLGs in the same district will start later this week.”

He said the reason for the delay was because their assistant returning officers were in Wewak preparing for the counting.

“Counting for the four LLGs in the Wosera Gawi area have been delayed but would start sometime this week.”

Meanwhile, polling in Bumbitam Muhian and Albiges Mamblep in Maprik district ended yesterday.

Counting for these LLGs and two others including Maprik LLG is expected to start on Friday.
