A PRIMARY school established 60 years ago is seeking financial assistance to renovate its buildings.

The Kimgal Primary School in the Kerowagi urban local level government, in Kerowagi district, Chimbu, was founded in the 1950s by Lutheran missionaries and evangelists.

Some of Chimbu’s professionals and elites such as Morobe Governor Kelly Naru were products of the school.

School board member Ben Komawang said the administration, under head teacher Rosal Kumun Waine were looking for donations, especially from former students.

They recently built a new staff building and library for the students.

“We are now raising funds to renovate and then convert the old memorial building in the school ground into a chapel,” Komawang said.

The level five school has more than 500 students and 18 teachers. Students in the upper grades use the three double classrooms while those in the lower grades use three semi-permanent double classrooms.

It wants to build quarters for the teachers who live outside the school.

He said the school would welcome any donations and assistance to provide the best learning environment for the students.

The school’s bank account with Bank South Pacific Kundiawa branch is 1000895969.
