PRIME Minister Peter O’Neill leads a government delegation to Finschhafen today to visit projects.

The delegation includes Morobe Governor Kelly Naru, New Ireland Governor Sir Julius Chan, Education Minister James Marape and National Planning and Monitoring Minister Charles Abel.

Organising committee chairman Gilinde Narekine said Marape would open a new classroom at  Dregerhafen Technical Secondary School. The delegation will then visit Simbang and Gagidu stations.

Simbang was where the first German Lutheran missionary Johannes Flierl set foot and established the Evangelical Lutheran Church and spread the gospel through evangelising.

O’Neill will visit the Butaweng provincial hospital before launching the district’s five-year development plan and open the district headquarters.

Narekine said preparation is underway.

A platoon of 28 soldiers would provide a guard of honour. 16 traditional singsing groups will also participate at Gagidu.
