Principal announces rise in fees

MARTIN Luther Seminary will be increasing its school fees for all the courses it offers, says principal Reverend Dr Michael Wan Rupulga.
Rupulga said this was due to the increase in the price of goods and services.
He said it has been difficult operating the school this year due to funding shortages.
“The school has to cut down on costs in order to keep the school running,” he said.
“We grounded the school truck because the maintenance would cost around K10,000; cut down on food rations in the single students’ dining hall and ancillary staff were asked to work half days for a month in September. All maintenance work was put on-hold.”
Rupulga said they needed money to replace the aging mini-bus and repair the buildings (staff houses, students’ flats and dorms).
“The replacement of furniture in all staff and students’ accommodation, and fencing of the campus are required.”
According to Rupulga, diploma and bachelor students, excluding final-year BTH students will pay K4,350; single final-year BTH students will pay K5,030; married students will pay K5,110; married final-year BTH students will pay K5,610 and part-time non-residential students will pay K400 per course.
