Prioritise road safety

Letters

PAPUA New Guineans appreciate the services provided by Public Motor Vehicles (PMVs).
However, some PMVs do not think about the comfort and safety of passengers and overload.
For example, along the Wewak-Aitape route, open-back vehicles are used as PMVs.
With the cargoes being loaded and together with passengers, there is less space.
But PMVs tend to add more when there are passengers. The fare is now K70, and with the long distance, passenger safety should be guaranteed.
Passengers cannot hang or stand throughout the journey.
Traffic officers should make sure laws are followed to avoid accidents as most passengers do not have insurance cover.
Safety should be a priority.
We only have one life.
