PRL 2 thrash Suburban in senior trials

PORT Moresby Rugby League team 2 recorded the highest winning margin of day one of the Southern Confederation senior men’s trials when they hammered POM Suburban 42-4 at the National Football Stadium oval 2 yesterday.
Central Dabaris 2019 Digicel Cup bid chairman Keith Henao Iduhu was given the honour of kicking off the trials.
PRL 2 showed their willingness to play attacking football and did not let up over the hour-long fixture.
The “home” side had too much flair and class for their Suburban cousins who were not as organised or could match their opponents intensity.
Meanwhile, Koiari had the better of Tauruba beating them 32-6 in the day’s other notable result.
Port Moresby South (2) could only manage an 8-8 draw with Hiri West 8 while Tei Kariko edged Hiri East 16-14 and Rigo pipped Keipi 16-12. Trial favourites PRL (1) had enough in the tank to beat POM Souths (1) 16-4 and Kerema edged Motu Koita 4-0 in the other matches.
Meanwhile, the Under-20 trials ended last Thursday with selectors naming a 35-man training squad.
