Probe on Evara’s death almost over

POLICE say investigation into the death of journalist Rosalyn Albaniel-Evara is almost completed.
Criminal Investigation Division Chief Sergeant Ulagish Mantu told The National that the Albaniel family members’ statements would complete their investigations before they compile a file for the Public Prosecutor’s office.
“We’ve been waiting for almost three week’s now for the family members to come forward with their statements,” he said. “They said they have witnesses to give statements but they have not come forward so we are still waiting for them.”
He said they had received a final post mortem report which was part of their investigation.
Mantu urged the Albaniel family to submit their statement.
“They know this is a serious matter and it’s a public outcry for this case and they are the ones who raised the alarm for this investigation and they need to cooperate with us,” he said.
The investigations into the cause of the death began in October with an autopsy carried out a few days after the victim’s death.
Evara, 41, died on Oct 15 at the Port Moresby General Hospital.
